Pay to sit in traffic

Have been pondering the RTA's latest strategic move on the traffic issue in our beloved city. The large electronic boards which span a few of our streets provide me with green arrows showing how clear the roads are as I sit stationary reading 7 days and pondering on my next blog posting. I am awaiting them to flash annoucing 'Happy 40th Birthday Susan!' alongside the snippets of advice about speed being a minor factor in accidents and that manners will save us all. These information boards do work effectively throughout the world however as all of those who live here will testify, it is not always so here. On the way to Sharjah last week the boards on Emirates Road did inform me that there was an accident ahead. This did not help matters as I sat stationary once again except sympathise with those poor souls who drive this route day by day.
It was to these drivers and passengers that my thoughts turned to regarding the new toll charges which will come into play in June. Those drivers who already have no regard for speed limits, lanes and road etiquette and have standing orders through internet banking for fines will continue as normal. Those who already leave for work before the sun rises and catch another hour or couple of hours sleep in their car before their long day will be penalised once again. An alternative route would mean longer days - however Dhs16 from your already overstretched budget may force you to move into your car permanently.
I would like to believe that the toll charges will have a huge impact on our roads however have my doubts.

Sad day for sci-fi

For all those Star Trek fans out there, of which my hubbie and best friend are two, it appears that the new as yet un-named film which was to include three captains from three generations of the sci-fi series has been canned. Sources suggest that JJ Adams the appointed director of the film has had a major bust up with the studio. Let's hope their differences can be resolved by Hollywood time proven methods - throw more money at the project.
New not yet on http://www.aintitcool.com/ but should be soon.

For all those who were Bionic Women fans in the 80's a remake is on the cards with dreadful exEastenders Zoe headlining the show. Let's hope the Eastenders writers are not involved in any of the story lines or it will be a sad day for the salvation of the world from evil.
